PROPOSALS DUE JUNE 16th
First Responder UAS 3D Mapping Challenge
Launched on April 18, 2023, by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Division, the First Responder Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) 3D Mapping Challenge (UAS 5.0) is offering up to $987,500 in prize awards for contestants who successfully design, build, and operate a cost-effective UAS solution that enhances situational awareness and image detection for forest responders prior to entering a building. Specifically, winning solutions will leverage a technological mapping method, such as simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), to provide an ac curate, high-quality 3D map in real-time for locating missing person(s) and life-threatening obstacles in an indoor, low-light, GPS-denied, or otherwise constrained environment. For an additional overview of the challenge, please visit: 2023 First Responder UAS 3D Mapping Challenge | NIST.
