First Responder UAS 3D Mapping Challenge

Launched on April 18, 2023, by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Division, the First Responder Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) 3D Mapping Challenge (UAS 5.0) is offering up to $987,500 in prize awards for contestants who successfully design, build, and operate a cost-effective UAS solution that enhances situational awareness and image detection for forest responders prior to entering a building. Specifically, winning solutions will leverage a technological mapping method, such as simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), to provide an ac curate, high-quality 3D map in real-time for locating missing person(s) and life-threatening obstacles in an indoor, low-light, GPS-denied, or otherwise constrained environment. Voyager Scholarship in Public Service

The 2023 Voyager Scholarship for Public Service application closes in under a month, so if you know a rising college junior who may be interested in this opportunity, please read on and encourage them to apply.  The Obama Foundation is looking for 100 rising college juniors from every corner of this country who share a curiosity about the world and the conviction to want to make positive change within it.
