Student Assistant Needed for Academic Programs Support

We're looking for a student employee with a positive attitude to help support academic programs in Electrical & Computer Engineering programs. Successful candidates can work from home and/or on-campus, logging between 10 and 15 hours per week at $12 per hour.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  

Position Purpose

Assist the Senior Academic Advisor and provide remote advising support to pre-admission undergraduates and first-year freshmen.

Key Job Duties

  1. Support the Senior Academic Advisor 
    • Process advising notes
    • Assist with appointment setting and follow up
    • Manage transfer credit requests
  2. Facilitate freshmen enrollment
    • Respond to prospective student inquiries
    • Engage admitted students and encourage them to sign up for orientation
  3. Represent ECE in orientation activities
  4. Provide preliminary advising to new students
  5. Support the ECE Outreach Committee in community outreach projects

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who can offer empathetic and patient support to prospective students and incoming freshmen. To be most effective, applicants will need to have completed 2-3 semesters of study at Boise State and be familiar with the systems and services students encounter on campus. For example, applicants should know how to enroll in classes, use the library, look up academic deadlines, and find a computer lab.
